gallery gala girls

Here I am with my Steynberg Gallery piece at last night's opening. As you can see, I was tastefully outfitted in a necklace that matched my work. My swell husband made the 300 mile round trip with me after he worked all day and all week, which was quite a sweet gesture, I thought.

Two of my buds from the Santa Barbara based group Fibervision were there, Andi Perejda (who won a third place award) and Jeanne Surber. Here they are with their pieces:

Andi's quilt Sky featured French silks, beads, and yarns; in her quilt Goth Metal, Jeanne used fabric she created, including deconstructed screen prints, and metal.

First place went to a quilt that had both hand dyed and bleach discharged fabric. Here is winner Gay McNeal with her piece Autumn Landscape:

I couldn't photo other smashing work as I didn't get permission from the artists, but if you are in the San Luis Obispo area, the show is worth a peek...some nice weavings and 3D work, too. Oh, and there' a great Mexican restaurant down the street...
