a new project and a new blog!

This is the banner for a new blog I am part of -- a group of eight artists who have undertaken a digital-to-textile project.

http://digitaltotextile.blogspot.com

Who we are: Betty Amador, Loris Bogue, Paula Chung, Pamela Price Klebaum, Gwen Mayer, Karen Rips and Carolyn Ryan

The project: Every two months, after a sumptuous pot luck dinner, one in our group of eight artists will disseminate a black and white photo to the group. Each artist, using textiles as the primary medium, will create a work using that photo as inspiration. The maximum perimeter is 122 inches.

At the dinner held the month following receipt of the photo, we will share our project-in-process and critique each other's work. Group members may post work in progress on this blog, and we will post the final pieces as well.

The first photo, taken by Karen Rips and pictured above (our banner), was shared at our September 2009 get together.

This month, we shared our works-in-progress, and established a blog so we can chronicle our paths.

We would love to hear from the readers as we undertake this project, so have at it! Comment on the blog as you wish.

Thanks for sharing this -- I picked up your link on the SAQA group. Eight of us (possibly more, we're at the very early stages of developing the group) are also starting a quilt challenge group, to begin in January. And we'll be blogging, etc. It will be great to watch your progress. Your blog looks great, as do the initial artworks.

I hope you post a notice when you start your blog. Our group blog will be slow to start, as right now three members are out of town for a week and I don't think will be able to post. Stick with us!
