sunday sense

While traversing the garden-in-process yesterday with our trusty dog Sanjagirl , I came upon some wonderful stepping stones I had purchased years ago after having seen them featured in Sunset magazine. They were created by an art school student who studied at (go Bruins) UCLA.

In the stone above, the moisture highlights the center, bringing it forward and making the rose seem small.

Down the path, next to the deck, which is being rebuilt thanks to termite feedings, the same rose appears larger, depth provided courtesy of sawdust and other construction detritus.

Devoid of depth, the rose is barely discernible.

...an interesting study in depth perception...
