button, button, who's got the button?

...continuing with the exposition of our Christmas quilt...this block commemorates the passing of Cassie, our beloved one-eyed cat, who died the year I made the block.  As she sported angel-wings, we were certain that she made it to cat-heaven. (Please note the progress I was making with needle-turn applique, as evidenced by the nice point at the bottom of Cassie's angel wing.)

To assure Cassie did in fact survive her final trek, she had an angel guide (clothed in N - O - E - L garb and fabric coordinated horn and wing), who hovered above Cassie's halo.

Scattered about the quilt are buttons, each commemorating some family member or guest at our annual tree trimming party...

...a silver cat, left, tree trimming party celebrants: a dual guest who also came for Thanksgiving (two pumpkin buttons) , a dolphin lover, an artist, a fire fighter (Sparky the Fire Dog, bottom right).

...tomorrow, a pile of teddy bears!!!
