the great shoe caper!

Goal = use my Salvation Army-bought size 12 Doc Martens to make a shoe print on my homelessness piece.

Method to madness = paint sole with ink and coat with olive oil...

Trial run = put test cloth on plastic-covered cushioned surface, step into shoe and have at it!

Final take = eeeeeeeeee, take a big breath and step on that fabric!!!

Now I will clean up the Doc Martens and donate them back to the Salvation Army!

So scary to make such a permanent mark on a piece! Very brave of you and it looks like it turned out great.

What was the purpose of the olive oil though?

Thanks, Lynn. I had tried it out before with just ink, and the print was not good at all. I thought that the olive oil might help make it stick. It's dry now and it looks like a real shoe print! Who'd uh thunk it???
