dyeing results: o m g !

Those of you not in the world of things textile will not understand why this fabric could induce chills in cloth-loving-peeps. A quick review...

I am attempting to make a fabric that will serve as a background for a piece on homelessness. My first attempt was to make "marks" on the cloth that would convey a coarse or disheveled look, and to imprint the image of chains. Success was illusory. I then dyed the fabric. That was a disaster. So I overdyed it, and, voila! A deep dirt brown color, and my marks appeared, in dark brown and black! Yippee!
