evolution

Here she is! The piece fired successfully, and you can imagine my supreme excitement as my eyes beheld this delightful result when I finally opened the kiln. I guess it's not objectionable to say you love your art -- so, I'll say it: I love her (she seems to have a life already).

Here is the reverse side. I haven't cleaned all the fiber paper detritus out yet, and you can see some of it remaining in the relief impressions. Different thicknesses of fiber paper resulted in different depression depths, making for nice variation in texture.

The leaf at the top has some veining, but that does not show well in these photos.

The piece is around 6" x 7" -- I am now processing the next steps in the design of the glass-and-textile piece. Lots of ideas are popping up...it's delightfully stimulating, but made it difficult to settle down to sleep last night!

I don't know about you, but I love it when a piece gets me so worked up I can't sleep at night. It means I'm accomplishing something. Nothing worse than being stuck with no ideas....
