delivery and deliberation

Pacific Coast Fiber Artists and Friends will have a juried special exhibit at this summer's Long Beach International Quilt Festival, and this morning I delivered my entry as well as those of six friends to curator Jamie Fingal. Don't miss the festival (July 24-26). Unlike last year, they will be prepared for the gazillions of us who will flock to see this great show...and they will not run out of food!

So...the pictures...well, I stopped off at my fave glass supplier and bought some pieces for the Utah project (Cathie's piece). While stained glass people have a huge array of choices, the pickins for fusers are quite slim. The properties of the glass must be just so.

I am going to work with the swirly blue to try to get some clouds. As I have written before, I conceive this piece to be 'about' texture -- so I am struggling with how to translate the cragginess of my image into the texture of glass.

In one of my earliest glass-and-textile pieces, this 'craggy' texture appeared, of course, by accident:

I want to achieve that look -- the random holes, the ragged edge -- but with a different type of glass than I used for this nude rendering. So...I have a lot of experimenting to do with my kiln.

Meanwhile, spoonflower.com notified me today that they already shipped my print! Yippee!
