the process

So how does one get a textile through a printer? The fabric comes on a paper sheet, which feeds through my Epson 17" wide printer. The image must dry for 24 hours, so this morning it was time for me to remove the image from the paper backing.

In the image above, my new piece is partially removed -- and to avoid distorting the fabric, I would flip the piece so the fabric is on the bottom. I stabilize the fabric with my arm and tear away the paper with my other hand.

Here's the new piece, now liberated from its backing and ready for  basting on a light batting and a backing fabric -- and then, texture from stitching, tra la.
