post mortem -- photos from my solo show

I have more treasures now, gifts from the experience of sharing my work with the public.

The What Remains wall was the most evocative element. I had struggled with whether to post any text accompanying the art -- some feel that they don't want to be told about the artist's thoughts -- and in the end, decided that I wanted to give the viewers the option to read my words or not (this has been posted before, so you can just scroll down to the photos if you want!)

To my surprise, this wall evoked very sweet and grace-filled conversations with many of the viewers, and one wrote me a letter explaining how it had helped her deal with a recent death.

Here is a little stroll through the exhibit:

The What Remains wall was to the right of the wall pictured above. After that, one wall was dedicated to my work on James and homelessness, below.

Public Display of Affection (by Moi)

Towards the end of my exhibit, there was a gallery talk where I got to pet my pieces in public as I explained how they came about. I haven't yet posted photos from the show -- our computer frizzle has now been fixed, thanks to my TechnoWizard Husband. I will post them over the next few days...

Art from Cloth exhibit on through October 21

That's one of my pencil-sketch-to-textile pieces on the left, on exhibit now at our fourth annual Art from Cloth exhibit in Thousand Oaks. We are averaging 60-75 visitors daily, all enthralled by the diversity and delight the exhibit offers. Many have made the drive north from LA to see the show.

It runs through October 21 at the Thousand Oaks Community Gallery, 2331 Borchard Drive. That's 91320 for those of you using GPS. It's right off Highway 101.

Come on down. My glass necklaces have been selling like pumpkin hotcakes ('tis the season)!

"An image can morph almost serendipitously as it appears in glass, textile, printmaking and photography,"

"I love to explore the element of line. My work explores how this element transforms when it is expressed in different media."

"I photographed my three-dimensional art vase and digitally created a two-dimensional, abstract design. I printed that design on fiber and stitched it. I scanned detritus from a fallen tree and used those images on glass, in textiles, and in creating solar etchings. In all these works, the medium changes how the image is perceived."

As the process evolves, I often find new ways of seeing the image, and the works evolve in a delightful and unpredictable way."
