Here, a naturescape on tree bark. At first glance, this looks like a manmade effort -- the symmetry of the forms, the artistry of the image. But this tree is at Lotusland, a private garden near Santa Barbara that is meticulously maintained and shared with the public in a highly controlled manner.
So there we have it. Rough texture, in a linear horizontal circular matrix, intersecting the vertical line of these graceful etched-out curved forms. ...who dunnit? A good mystery.
I might play with this image with a view towards making a Thermofax screen - for use on cloth and glass?
