a new member of my fused glass family, for now

Oohlala, I love this one! I gave glass blower Ryan Staub two pieces to magically transform into vessels, and as usual, he did a stellar job. This one has layer upon layer upon layer of transparent color, interspersed with black lines and some special multicolored glass. This is a view looking straight down on the inside of the vessel.

Here is another view:

...and here it is as it sat on the counter at Pacific Art Glass, awaiting its trip home:

I have decided to (sniff sniff) donate this one to the Ventura County Medical Foundation silent auction, which is next month.  The vase that I made for that auction is also wonderful (I'll post photos later), but this one really knocks one's socks off, if I do say so myself. The proceeds of the auction go to help support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the County Hospital, and other worthy recipients.

I find myself spending oodles of time just studying the layers of color and line in these newest pieces, smiling and ooh-ing and ah-ing all the time. It's a magical process, this art glass.

Wow, absolutely gorgeous. I don't think I could part with it. They are very lucky to get such a fantastic piece in their auction. I hope it brings in oodles of $$.

Thanks, Judy. This piece was an experiment for me, and now I will be going forth and multiplying, making more. I hope it brings in oodles of $$ for the hospital, too!
