kiln candy

This morning the kiln revealed this, a layer of "ice" over one of the "what remains" images -- a third layer of iridized glass with random lines on it. This has become my fave image -- I put the long arc-ed piece on the scanning bed and propped up the branch vertically, so the image would fade as it receded from the scanning bed. It was hard to capture this with glass powder, though. Here's the scanned image.

The piece on the right (above) is derived from this image, a cropped version, made at Pilchuck this summer (the longer the time passes after that experience, the more I realize I learned, spectacular).

Isn't randomness a great thing?!
