In my mind, I have created many glassworks for my series based on my dad's 1951 Navy voyage to Thule, Greenland. Today, my first effort came out of the kiln.
I can't clean it up yet (those little molecules are still swirling around), but it looks like I might have my first piece! I will be using my Foredom drill to sculpt the bas relief feature -- it has multiple layers of black, grey, and white -- and I hope to be able to sandblast at least one side to get a nice matte finish.
There is still fiber paper attached from the kilnforming process (white fluffy stuff). That will come off with water and a good pass with a stone burr.
Excited in Ventura.
